Biden healthcare plan would curb drug prices, raise taxes on rich

WASHINGTON - Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, the front-runner in the Democratic presidential race, unveiled a healthcare plan on Monday estimated to cost $750 billion and paid for partly by higher tax rates for the wealthy and doubled tax rates on capital gains.

Biden’s plan does not embrace a “Medicare for All” approach favored by some of his Democratic rivals in the contest to face Republican President Donald Trump in the 2020 election. But it would allow a public option in which people could enroll in a paid government healthcare plan, which would exist alongside private insurance.

A senior Biden campaign official who briefed reporters on Sunday estimated the cost of Biden’s plan to be $750 billion over 10 years. Biden’s plan would increase the value of tax credits received by people who use the plan, a move designed to help them lower their premiums.

... these individuals should be exempt from such a plan in order to ease the hardships that many face that plague their lives by leaving them w/o structural savings that can be beneficial in escalating ones goals. Therefore many will still drown and sink with a plan like this.

Let’s be clear. This plan will not only raise taxes on the rich but everyone. An individual mandate will still be imposed still making insurance less affordable for people who make 39,000 or less as a single individual to maintain within the parameters to the standard of living..
