Biden calls on Congress to extend eviction moratorium set to expire Saturday

President Joe Biden on Thursday called on Congress to extend the eviction moratorium set to expire on Saturday that prohibits landlords nationwide from evicting certain tenants who fail to pay rent amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Supreme Court last month allowed the order issued by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to stay in place until July 31, but said congressional action would be needed to extend it past that date.

Nope. They can get out and work like everyone else and pay their bills. If not, then move back with Mommy and Daddy. Slaves no more.

Nobody fought the ridiculous restrictions and mandates they just closed their business or quit their jobs voluntarily. Nobody's problem but their own. Rest of us kept working and kept providing for ourselves and our families. Not paying for more welfare dependent leeches

Unfortunately both sides are feeling the effects of this terrible disease... but this could be avoided if everyone is vaccinated.. and stop the spread of the virus..Who are we going to blame for this complete madness?

Ridiculous and a HORRIBLE idea!! A lot of people already not working due to laziness and a government handout system that allows them to NOT work! Now if they continue to not have to pay rent it will allow the problem to continue! Very bad thinking

what ppl should start doing is instead of charging rent is using things like labour as a means to pay… after all those rentals need to be maintained and instead of paying someone to do the lawns the tenants could do that instead. Then there is no excuse.

How about stop paying people to sit at home and make them get back into the workforce so they can pay rent. Amazing concept.

What about the people who own the buildings and have mortgage payments due

So how is he homeowners supposed to pay his home payments and tax payments if he gets no rent. Why does biden hate homeowners.

How can anyone support this without also supporting the landlords that have mortgages to pay on these properties? I’m all for it as long as the government pays the mortgage bill as well.

As a landlord with a property loan will the government project me from foreclosure?

If the United States can significantly reduce its current military spending, it can provide housing to American citizens or subsidize their costs. The United States is the first in the world to advocate and build a 'Housing National Treasury Budget' for world citizens.

When these tenants can't/won't pay their back rent, the landlords won't be able to pay their banks. Guess who becomes the property owner after that happens...

F the land lords? Is that sustainable position? Why not govt. Low cost emergency housing?

And a condition of receiving the moritorium is that the renter is vaccinated, if they are not already

While GOP resistance may not derail an extension in the House , it will take the support of at least 10 Republican senators to push an extension through the senate .
