The U.S. Interior Department this week will hold its first onshore oil and gas auctions since President Joe Biden took office, a setback to his administration's early efforts to end federal drilling to fight climate change.

The lease sales will run Wednesday to Thursday and will cover more than 140,000 acres across eight Western states, posing a test of the drilling industry's demand for new prospects at a time of soaring global energy prices.

Biden had campaigned on a promise to end federal drilling to fight global warming, but has since urged oil producers to rapidly ramp up output to help consumers suffering from record prices at the pumps. Biden's Interior Department initially proposed 340,000 acres for this week's auctions, but gradually removed parcels it said were too environmentally sensitive.

Biden Vaccine Mandate For Federal Employees Blocked Again As Appeals Court Dissolves Earlier RulingThe 5th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear the case again after previously letting the mandate take effect in April. This is ridiculous! 😡 So women have no say over their bodies but Courts say it’s ok for anti vaxxers to make everyone sick. 👎🏻 I'm so taken aback how some members of the judiciary arm are now making sensible decisions, and it undoubtedly shows that something is awfully wrong with the insistence of vaccine mandate, seeing that the vaccines don't immune anyone from contracting the virus and spreading it.🤔 There are no laws backing up these mandates
