But the Senate can confirm a successor before there is a formal vacancy, so the White House is getting to work. It is expected to take at least a few weeks before a nomination is formalized.
And Biden would have the chance to show Black voters increasingly frustrated with a president they helped to elect that he is serious about their concerns, particularly after he has been unable to push through voting rights legislation.

The smartest justice on the Supreme Court is Clarence Thomas. An African American man. One of nine justices = 11% of the Court African Americans = 12% of the U.S. population Therefore, Blacks already comprise their overall % on the Court. BUT, if we 'must', then clone Thomas.

Let's see blacks represent less than 13% of the population, but now our 2/9 of the court. Meanwhile, the hispanic population has ballooned, yet only represent 1/9 and there are no Asians or other groups represent. Boy BLM has politicians buffaloed.
I think the NBA and NFL should use similar logic in draft selections this year. Way too many black players, they need to start creating more diverse teams.
Biden made history alright, using race as the primary criteria for selecting a Supreme Court Justice. Wonder why this is okay, but companies and other organizations can't make similar decisions based on race? Thought that was illegal - guess I'm wrong.

I would really hate to be offered a job just because of my ancestry or gender. I was offered the job I have because of my ability & knowledge, not because I'm female.
Personally I don't care about skin color for any job. That shouldn't be a factor. I just want the best qualified person for the job. You know like it used to be.
