On Thursday , the network announced that the singer and BeyGOOD founder will be honored with the prestigious Humanitarian Award at the upcoming 20th annual BET Awards show, which will air on BET and CBS on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
Furthermore, there are new additions to the event's star-studded roster, including a tribute to late Lakers star Kobe Bryant byand a memorial to rock pioneer Little Richard by comedian/singer Wayne Brady. The BET Awards began handing out the Humanitarian honor in 2002 in order to honor celebrities who donate their time and money to charitable causes.
The socially-distanced broadcast will also honor Nicolas Johnson, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and D-Nice as the 2020 Shine a Light Honorees, which recognizes"exceptional resilience, ingenuity and creativity in the face of adversity." French anti-racist activist Assa Traoré will be honored with the 2020 BET International Global Good award, which recognizes world acts who use their platform to social responsibility while demonstrating a commitment to the welfare of the global Black community.
