Better Call Saul Star Reuniting With Breaking Bad Creator For New Show

Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn will join forces with Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan for a new show on Apple TV+. Seehorn and Gilligan previously collaborated on Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul, which Gilligan co-created alongside Peter Gould. After the success of Gilligan's Breaking Bad, which ran for five seasons from 2008 to 2013, audiences were elated to hear that Gilligan would return to that universe with a series centered on fan-favorite character Saul Goodman .

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Better Call Saul enjoyed a six season run, finally wrapping earlier this fall with a pitch-perfect finale that offered the character and the Breaking Bad universe a satisfying send-off. Due to the acclaim achieved by the finale, fans have wondered about Gilligan's next move, with some voicing hopes for another Breaking Bad spin-off.

“After 15 years, I figured it was time to take a break from writing antiheroes… and who’s more heroic than the brilliant Rhea Seehorn? It’s long past time she had her own show, and I feel lucky to get to work on it with her. And what nice symmetry to be reunited with Zack Van Amburg, Jamie Erlicht and Chris Parnell! Jamie and Zack were the first two people to say yes to Breaking Bad all those years ago.

Gilligan's new drama has already received a two season order from Apple TV+, which is an encouraging credit to the in-development series. The mention of the "blended, grounded" nature of the series makes sense considering Gilligan's past projects, which have been praised for their fluidity and realism.

Seehorn's readiness to collaborate once again with Gilligan points to the positive environment he creates in his projects. Many of Gilligan's past leads have expressed a desire to work with the producer once more, with Jonathan Banks, Giancarlo Esposito, and Odenkirk returning for Better Call Saul along with several season 6 cameos from other Breaking Bad actors.
