Gilligan and Seehorn will reunite for Apple TV+.

Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn will join forces with Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan for a new show on Apple TV+.\nEarly in August, reports surfaced that Breaking Bad creator and Better Call Saul co-creator Vince Gilligan was getting ready to pitch his next project..with a two-season straight-to-series order.

Seehorn and Gilligan previously collaborated on Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul, which Gilligan co-created alongside Peter Gould. After the success of Gilligan's Breaking Bad, which ran for five seasons from 2008 to 2013, audiences were elated to hear that Gilligan would return to that universe with a series centered on fan-favorite character Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk). In addition, Gilligan will be reuniting with Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn, who's been tapped to lead.Seehorn's character Kim Wexler, who eventually married the shady lawyer, became a standout in the series due to her moving storyline and impressive performances.Deadline notes that Gilligan was apparently asking for pretty hefty budgets for the show, too, reportedly naming $13.SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Better Call Saul enjoyed a six season run, finally wrapping earlier this fall with a pitch-perfect finale that offered the character and the Breaking Bad universe a satisfying send-off.'And what nice symmetry to be reunited with Zack Van Amburg, Jamie Erlicht, and Chris Parnell! Jamie and Zack were the first two people to say yes to Breaking Bad all those years ago.Due to the acclaim achieved by the finale, fans have wondered about Gilligan's next move, with some voicing hopes for another Breaking Bad spin-off.Jenn Carroll of Gilligan’s High Bridge Productions will produce.

Though Gilligan has made it clear that he has no plans to revisit the Breaking Bad universe anytime soon, fans will be thrilled to hear that his time in the television industry is far from over, and his next project will feature a familiar face.' So what's the series about? Well, Gilligan is talking but there were some reports last month so let's take a look…\nGreg Lewis\/AMC\/Sony Pictures Television\nAccording to DH's previous reporting, the Sony Pictures TV project will be 'a departure from the world of drugs and crime' that was his focus for 11 seasons of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul (and the film, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie).”.Related: Better Call Saul Has 46 Nominations, But Hasn't Won A Single Emmy - That's Absurd Deadline reports that Gilligan and Seehorn have teamed up for a new series, which has been described as a "blended, grounded genre drama." Gilligan describes the project as his "break from writing antiheroes," hinting that Seehorn's character will be more staunchly heroic than his past lead characters.' The report goes on to compare the project to Gilligan's times on the long-running FOX sci-fi series, but only in the sense that this project also finds him 'focusing more on the human condition' while examining 'similar themes of bending reality while holding a mirror to humanity.See what Gilligan has to say about the project below: “After 15 years, I figured it was time to take a break from writing antiheroes… and who’s more heroic than the brilliant Rhea Seehorn? It’s long past time she had her own show, and I feel lucky to get to work on it with her.And what nice symmetry to be reunited with Zack Van Amburg, Jamie Erlicht and Chris Parnell! Jamie and Zack were the first two people to say yes to Breaking Bad all those years ago.Gilligan will serve as showrunner and executive produce through his High Bridge Productions.

They’ve built a great team at Apple, and my wonderful, longtime partners at Sony Pictures Television and I are excited to be in business with them.” Gilligan's new drama has already received a two season order from Apple TV+, which is an encouraging credit to the in-development series.\n\n.The mention of the "blended, grounded" nature of the series makes sense considering Gilligan's past projects, which have been praised for their fluidity and realism.Though Gilligan doesn't reveal much about the nature of the project itself, the mention of it being a "genre drama" could hint that Gilligan will be making another foray into the crime realm. However, given his mention of wanting to break the mold and move away from his previous works with a more heroic character, it's possible that the series will move into a new genre for Gilligan.

Based on Gilligan's comments, Seehorn is the perfect choice for his lead, since she made Saul's moral compass, Kim, impossible not to root for, even when she was deep into her own schemes.Seehorn's readiness to collaborate once again with Gilligan points to the positive environment he creates in his projects. Many of Gilligan's past leads have expressed a desire to work with the producer once more, with Jonathan Banks, Giancarlo Esposito, and Odenkirk returning for Better Call Saul along with several season 6 cameos from other Breaking Bad actors. After so much time in the same universe, it's exciting that Gilligan will take a new step forward in his career, and even more exciting that Seehorn will be going with him.Hopefully, more information about the series will come out soon, though Gilligan is notoriously private about his shows.
