About 13,000 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the Haidian district where the case was discovered, but none of the results came back positive, Beijing Daily, a government newspaper, cited official data as saying on Sunday. "It is too soon to conclude that Omicron will swamp China's efforts to suppress COVID," said Mark Williams, chief Asia economist at Capital Economics, in a note issued on Friday.
Some Beijing residents, concerned about being trapped in the city for the upcoming week-long Lunar New Year holiday, are rushing to travel back home early because of the Omicron case.

If you have symptoms, assume you have COVID, Utah health official saysDr. Leisha Nolen, state epidemiologist, said Utahns should assume they have COVID-19 if they have symptoms and stay home and away from others for 5 days while symptomatic. The state is also pausing its school test-to-stay program. People should also assume they have Covid if they are asymptomatic and stay home forever. What a fucking joke They're pausing test to stay and telling people not to test but then schools are using the positive tests as a gauge of whether the school should remain in person or not. How does that make any sense?
