Behold: The first picture of the black hole at the center of our galaxy

If M87’s 6.5-billion-solar-mass black hole were plopped in the center of the solar system, it would obliterate everything up to 130 times farther from the sun than Earth; Sagittarius A*, on the other hand, wouldn’t even fill Mercury’s orbit. The new image reveals some key details about the gravitational drain at the center of our galaxy, including its spin orientation, which suggests the top of the black hole—or the bottom, depending on your perspective—is aimed almost directly at Earth.

Such fits and starts from Sagittarius A* have left imprints on molecules in the interstellar medium that suggest its activity varies—at least moderately—on timescales of millennia, or even centuries. And while scientists know that a black hole’s activity varies with the amount of material it consumes, it’s not clear how that process works.

The ring of light we are actually seeing is the accretion disk. That's the ring of gas that surrounds the blackhole. The blackhole itself is invisible.

Shot is blurry, like the first one.

That black hole commonly known as a rat hole is where the money goes. That's a computer generated graph using worthless radio data input to a program that needed several 'adjustments' before it finally took shape. Nobody knows the actual source of radio waves used.

There are new steps in Physics beyond Einstein.

I thought that this was done a couple of years ago? There was a lady scientist who was part of the team and she had her photo all over the media with a stack of data tapes with the data beside her.

The accretion disk, actually. Not the black hole itself. Black holes, by definition cannot be photographed since they emit no light.

Is somebody messing around? This looks identical to the M87 picture from a couple years ago

And this will improve our daily lives how? Who rwally cares? Don't we have enough problems on earth?
