Feinberg said the settlement negotiations were complex and difficult. Asked about a timeline, he said it would be “premature to state that a settlement is near or will be reached.” On Thursday, Bloomberg reported that Feinberg said the number of cases had grown to between 75,000 and 85,000 and “maybe more”. Feinberg was also quoted saying he was “cautiously optimistic” that a settlement will be reached in about a month.

Bayer has ruled out withdrawing from the U.S. market, saying regulators and extensive research have found glyphosate to be safe.
