Australian PM Scott Morrison, under pressure to adopt a 2050 net-zero carbon emissions, says he may not join this year's landmark UN climate summit in Scotland

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison speaks during a joint press conference held with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern at Admiralty House in Sydney, Australia, on February 28, 2020.

"I mean it is another trip overseas and I have been on several this year and spent a lot of time in quarantine," he was quoted as saying. Foreign Minister Marise Payne said Australia would be "strongly represented" at a senior level, even if Morrison did not attend the summit. He has been in tough negotiations over setting a net-zero target within the conservative coalition government, an alliance of his own Liberal Party and the Nationals, who have much of their support base in rural and mining communities.

At UN, turmoil in Haiti, Ethiopia draws global concernThe speeches may be scripted, but the U.N. General Assembly can sometimes be the only direct window into the regional challenges that command global concern. On Saturday, world leaders were speaking on behalf of some of the most unstable and unsettling current conflicts. Mr. Ariel Henry, the problem of your people is your responsibility, and America is not obligated to solve the problem of failed and corrupt rulers.🅰️ Well then Haiti, get it together so there will be no madness and you can retain your citizens. It's bad, very bad. No one deserves to live this way. If a pet was being treated like them the whole world would be singing the same song, but when it comes to humans it's a different tune. Has to get better.
