Her husband, who is wearing white Nike Air Force 1 shoes and is identified only as Steve in the video, points out to the staff that another patron sitting at the bar is wearing Adidas sneakers as the managers try to move the conversation outside."I get where you're coming from," a staff member responds."Please we're all minorities here.
Arshid and Colbert's husband get into a heated debate and at one point have to be physically separated by staff.A security guard eventually breaks up the two groups shortly before the recording ends.Olive Garden customer reportedly refused service from a Black server and the manager complied Arshid, who is Iranian, told USA TODAY that he regrets how the situation was handled but that it was an "operational, not racial" shortcoming.
"We absolutely mishandled it," Arshid said. "I’m ashamed of that ... we should’ve managed the situation much better." Arshid said that when a reservation is made the dress code is communicated in at least three ways, on Open Table, by a staff member when the reservation is confirmed by phone and on a plaque in the restaurant.
A dress code is nearly impossible to 100% enforce in a busy restaurant. Someone slips by eventually and then you could end up in hot water if you try to enforce it with the next guy. If the next guy is black, forget about it. Now you are a racist.
I’m confused. Is the problem his shoes, or is the dress code violation because he’s wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants, while everyone else is suit/dress?
I guess this restaurant won't be promoted on House Wives Of Atlanta, Love & Hip Hop Of Atlanta, or Married To Medicine...🤣🤣🤣
The entire situation is PATHETIC & could have been handled in a much more calm & professional way. Personally I'm not a fan of tennis shoes/sneakers/Jordan's/Air Force One & they should NOT be worn in establishments with a no sports shoes dress code. That goes for ALL folks🤷🏾♀️
The immigrant that thinks he is better than the Black person is also part of the problem in this country. The disrespect.

To hell with him and his Sushi restaurant. Nothing’s wrong with Nike AirForce1’s. I wear them everyday. BlackLivesMatter
Whew! I wouldn’t eat there again, ever. No telling what they will do to black folks food. I pass.
If the customer has been there several times before & knows the dress code, why even come in with gym shoes?
I've been to some of the best restaurants in the world. Not one has ever complained about my sneakers. Some required jackets. Seems like an odd policy.
The economy is in the toilet and they turning away customers!
“We don’t look at your shoes when you come in.' Then how did the owner (or any staff member) know the patron was wearing Air Force 1s?
