The shaggy southpaw yielded one hit — Chas McCormick’s ringing two-out double during the eighth — but struck out catcher Jason Castro to end the threat.
Castro’s strikeout only prolonged a fruitless night. Houston’s lineup stranded eight baserunners and finished 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez punched out in a frustrating first inning against Red Sox starter Garrett Whitlock.
