Richard Collins III, who was black, was murdered by a white student on the University of Maryland campus in 2017 — just days after being commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Now he's been given an honorary promotion to first lieutenant.

Sean Urbanski, a white student at the university at the time, has sinceSecretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy notified four Maryland lawmakers of the decision to grant Collins an honorary promotion to first lieutenant, on Wednesday.

"The Army considered the standards and criteria required for an honorary promotion and found that 2LT Collins displayed exemplary conduct in the performance of his duties commensurate with a first lieutenant," McCarthyHe added that though Collins'"life was tragically cut short by a murder" he also"exhibited character and exemplary conduct of an officer of a higher rank.

This is even worse than sending “thoughts and prayers”

I think it's very sad, that they are ONLY now giving a deceased man a PROMOTION! This was just decided out of the blue? WHY NOW?! Why not last month or 2yrs ago? WHY NOW, of all the worst times?! Is this for TRUMPS SICK BENEFIT?!🤨USArmy He tries to CLAIM CREDIT for anything!😡

RIP Sir and peace be with you.

I don’t understand this at all. . rewarded only in death not all things are meant to be understood I guess

Promoting a black man when he’s dead is definitely easier than fighting for his rights and safety when he’s still alive.

I never forgot this. Glad the killer will not see daylight.

I’m neither underplaying the fact that a man was murdered nor questioning Collins’ character (as I am a veteran myself) but the timing of his posthumous promotion seems a bit convenient.

Isn't a posthumous promotion insulting? It's like they're saying ' it's the least we can do 🤷🏻‍♂️'...

boedudley boedudley sadly they cannot return his life to him posthumously.

Stop funding NPR.

That's it?

I offer condolences to the family of Mr Collins, but your article say it wasn’t determined to be racially motivated. Are you trying to gin up problems? Really disappointed with your reporting

🙌

If it was 'days after being commissioned,' then he was not 'an ROTC student', he was an Army officer.

Why do you have to talk about this now? Getting on the race bandwagon, causing more tension. Shame on you.

His killer, Sean Urbanski, will likely receive life without parole:

Wake up so called black people and stop begging for justice from a people that has never known accountability, read 'Black Truth White Fear, and Don't Drink The Water ' both by Moses smith Amazon eBook

Never even saw this story, that’s just tragic

Unbelievable, is it open season on Black men?

Okay, but what happened to his murdered? Is the S.O.B. in jail or did he get a promotion too?

Imagine if every time a white person was killed by a black person the media covered it the same way and white community banded together and started rioting and looting. So sick of this bullshit progressive movement. Your fake outrage will get you nowhere.

Pile on the racial tension at a critical moment in time. NPR and the Democrat agenda.

Msm ---》 race war now!
