It is the second year in a row that deep cuts will be implemented to shore up the Colorado River system as prescribed in the 2019 Drought Contingency Plan which was agreed to by the seven states and Mexico that rely on the water.
With junior priority, Arizona is set to lose the most — 592,000 acre-feet, or 21%, of its annual allotment in this round of cuts. The loss nearly wipes out the allotment for agricultural users in Pinal County and is expected to impact some municipal users.Nevada will lose 25,000 acre-feet and Mexico will lose 104,000 acre-feet. California will not be required to lose any water in this tier.
Maybe we will stop growing cotton and alfalfa?
Water…The new liquid gold
And there's people wanting to build a damn water park in Maricopa
That's a serious reduction of vital water to Arizona. I'll bet if you told Arizonans they were about to lose 21% of their gasoline supply they'd pay much more attention.
Pretending Arizona is farmland can finally end. It isn’t arable land.
Installing a 20k gallon tank immediately to start hoarding water. I'll be doling it out like the bartender in 'The Book of Eli'.
1 AZ Gov. candidate (Kari) is too worried about the 2020 conspiracy theories and drag queens, while the other (Katie) is has focused on the issues that actually matter to us, like this.
I am concerned about how this will impact economic development in Arizona in years to come.
AZ agreed to junior water rights when the CAP was negotiated. Other states will have heavy cuts soon as levels drop
Yet we're going to build an 11-acre lagoon in Glendale...
And not one city or state water restrictions. Not even on a stupid car wash. Our local leaders are failing.
We can drink DougDucey ‘s ship containers instead I suppose?
Does this mean golf courses are only gonna be 14 holes now?
Weren't you just touting a new water park in Maricopa?
😮😮😮
ya think California will actually ease back to what they are allocated ..or just keep gorging themselves with abandon?
Climate change is right in front of everyone's face screaming... I'm here!!
Send the national guard!
Hope the free water to Saudi was worth it
In case you’re wondering why…
Bitch, we can make it RAIN stop the propaganda
What a government we have
The SW states & Mexico produce most of the winter veggies for the whole of the US, don't complain to us when you can't get lettuce/tomatoes in CO & UT. When do we halt building permits for new homes, apt complexes & commercial buildings, as there is no water for new growth?
No, we need water.
Maybe instead of shipping containers, Doug Ducey should've solved this problem with allocation first.
Yet DougDucey & AZGOP gave away groundwater for free to Saudi corporation, Fondomonte, who has been growing crops for export to Saudi Arabia over the last seven years.
Predicted by the people who don’t even know if it will rain tomorrow.
🙋♂️ hasn’t Arizona been giving most of it to California anyways
I’m really curious if damning and humans controlling flow toMead is becoming a source to profit off of in the future.
