If SSD speeds are an issue for you on the base 13-inch MacBook Pro, you’ll need to stump up an extra $200 for the faster 512GB model. But if you’re willing to do that, you might want to wait and see what’s inside the new MacBook Air. The base model will be priced slightly less at $1,199, but if it has slower SSD speeds then there’s an identically-priced $1,499 512GB model that will presumably have the two NAND chips.
We’ve reached out to Apple to comment on the SSD changes in the MacBook Pro, and we’ll update you accordingly if we hear back.Subscribe to get the best Verge-approved tech deals of the week. Please confirm your subscription to Verge Deals via the verification email we just sent you.
Oh silly Apple 🤦♂️
Well they had to keep the price at $999 somehow.. ..oh wait

LoL at these sites out for clicks
Slower ssd will effect memory swap specially for the 8gb models and will effect app launching and copying big files even the thunderbolt external ssd will be slower it’s very disappointing
Is the new 'MacBook Pro' worth it?🤔💳💸
🤣 But wait does this mean that the M2 MBA also has slower SSD speeds compared to the M1 MBA? They shared they same chip respectively after all…
Finally u talk about it.
I wonder if this is an oversight or error and will be fixed in some capacity.
Apple goes super cheap. Half the speed as before is begging for a class action lawsuit. Apple
The more I hear about this MacBook the more of a joke it becomes lol. Didn’t think Apple would miss this hard with a MacBook after M1 but here we are anyway…
And the sad part is the M2 Air runs better and it doesn’t have a single fan.
chrisromero____ Bro... your company is something else lol
who would've thought
This product doesn't make sense.....
Literally why
smh
just apple's little dirty tricks to sell the pro model..
New MBA or 14-16 models…
classic apple move to promote the PRO model, because MB Air makes sense for 90% of the use cases. Cant we just admit that the air makes so much sense against the much costlier MB Pro. Apple
I won't invest on this outdated design for such price. Go for M2 MBA or jump to ProMotion MBP14 or 16.
'it's a feature!', 'you're holding it wrong!'

Wtf!
Because the entry model is for casuals/average users who don’t use their laptop for anything more than email, socials and watching Netflix etc….hence a faster SSD doesn’t make a difference to them anyway if a file is written/saved/exported etc in 4 minutes instead of 2…next
bigger ssd = faster ssd
