Apple may be forced to ditch its Lightning charge cable due to new EU rules

Apple, of its own choice, has already stopped using Lightning on the 2019 version of the iPad, moving to the USB-C port used on MacBooks. USB-C and micro-USB are also used on Android devices.

However, Thillien also noted that Apple is already using USB for some iPads, "so it wouldn't be completely new for them, and would only apply to future models."

Old Dodge Chargers?

The future is wireless. Set goals to make all devices charge wirelessly, since those last 10x longer than any cord I’ve ever owned. USB-C is nearly ubiquitous so the common charger goal is nearly here, apple included.

Old Nokia chargers: 3.7 volts. 0.35 amps. New USB C chargers: 9 volts. 3.0 amps. Yes - the chargers have changed - but they're also capable of charging batteries with much higher capacity faster. Let's not ban innovation to feel better about ourselves.

Yes, I am very angry at these companies that think they can jail their customers to only using their accessories like Sony did with it's 8mm camcorder vs VHS, or even these plug designs that mean on has to find a special plug for the phone to recharge..
