MANCHESTER, England - Manchester City had a late goal from Gabriel Jesus ruled out by VAR review as they drew 2-2 at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday — their first league home game without victory in nearly eight months.
Jesus drove in what looked like the winner in added time but while City were celebrating, the VAR review had spotted the ball brushing the arm of City defender Aymeric Laporte before the Brazilian struck home. “Deja vu. It’s deja vu,” said City manager Pep Guardiola, who was quick to point out several inconsistencies in the use of VAR, including what he felt should have been a penalty for a Spurs foul on Rodrigo.
“It depends on the interpretation of people. Everyone is free to talk about it but the referee has to make a decision and this time it’s unlucky for City and a help for Tottenham.”
Love it.
De Jesus always had the ‘sad puppy dog’ face and also competes with his country-man Neymar for best fake-rollover pain, after being barely touched by defense player👎
Not controversy.
The premierleague and VAR was out of control this weekend
Jesus Wept
Spurs skipper is Pochettino, not Lloris, who is the keeper
Lolllll suck it, City.
Third time in one year And second time in a week (approx) 😀
😶
It’s just the rules being faitly and evenly judged as you can use video. Rugby started using it years ago, no complaints, it just is, the end. No one had an advantage, it’s not a goal
Maybe this explains their huge points tally last season, they benefitted from many wrong decisions! 🤔
purely using VAR to display dislike for Pep. If that goal was scored against City, it would count. Why didn't VAR see the City pk?
There was no controversy the ball hit the players arm which negated the goal. Glad VAR is now being used.
