American families throw out $1,500 in uneaten food every year --- how to reduce waste this Thanksgiving

Each year, an American family of four loses $1,500 on average because of uneaten food, the USDA says — that’s about 1,160 pounds never consumed. Habits during Thanksgiving week and the winter holidays can contribute a big slice of that total.
