, America has been the country worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Nearly 1.7m of its inhabitants have been infected, a number which is still growing by around 20,000 every day. On May 27th the country passed its 100,000th confirmed death. Such official death tolls do not necessarily capture all of the lost, and the real tolls in some other countries may be much higher than they seem.
There were a number of structural reasons to imagine that America would be hit particularly hard by an epidemic such as this. Its health infrastructure is set up principally to maximise profits, and such a system’s incentives are not well aligned with pandemic preparedness.
Current evidence suggests that the best thing to have done with that time would have been to get into lockdown sooner. Researchers at Columbia University have estimated that if America had implemented its social-distancing measures just one week earlier it could have reduced nationwide infections by 62% and deaths by 55%.
America’s public-health services are a remarkable resource in terms of brainpower, analytic capability and experience, but they are also numerous and disparate. There are at least a dozen federal ones; local agencies number in the thousands. During the Ebola crisis of 2014 President Barack Obama appointed a tsar to keep the various necessary efforts aligned with one another. Mr Trump has done nothing similar. Nor does he feel he should have.
The degree to which Mr Trump’s denial of the problem and lack of engagement with the response made America’s epidemic worse is unknowable. But it is hard not to imagine that the country might have been better served by an approach more like Mrs Merkel’s. Germany’s overall death rate has remained considerably lower than that of other comparable European countries; it is one-third that of America’s.
Spending may ease the pain; but many states are nevertheless reopening businesses and easing restrictions on work and social gatherings. Thirsty patrons are snaking around the block to get into reopened bars in Dallas; vacationers at Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks filled up swimming pools over the holiday weekend.
The viewers have been foxed.
'may have'... TheEconomistFakeNews
We shall see the results
Liberal media convinced majority of its viewers that Trump colluded with Russia, even when no evidence was produced. In fact, they still push that false narrative. Let that sink in.
Correct, I am a bot
How fun. More conjecture and no real journalistic integrity. How does it feel to only push narrative and nothing news worthy?
Forget that sign should say Facebook church services cancelled. Come and pray with us here at the church. Just saying. stopplayingthegameoftheleftistsdemons

'May have' So, it's just speculation on their part, then?
AGAPE like alister Crowley?
That News Network can rightfully be crowned as the 'Great Influencer' of societal destabilising effects. Especially, since the change of political administration, after January 2017.
We now know that stay at home orders did little to stop the spread of the virus.
Out of here! Will unfollow and never read again.... you are as bad as fake news with that headline!!!
It's amazing that's only one third, you have to be braindead to watch Fox News, and braindead people would do whatever you order them to do.
What a piss poor article honestly. I really don’t like Fox News but the attempt to paint them out as a rogue news organization is pretty terrible. Liberal ideology does not want free speech this is becoming more apparent every day, with every policy proposal
Your logic is faulty. Fox News reported on the impending destruction of small-business America. It wasn't convincing anyone, it was reporting on the reality for people on Main St: Impending bankruptcy, home foreclosures and car repossessions are what persuaded 1/3 of viewers.
All of cnn and msnbc’s viewers have been violating the MN stay at home order all week
Fake news! What did you know just one week earlier?
scientific method 1. ask a question 2. do background research 3. formulate a hypothesis 4. ydjffejfllf got already fucked up at number two. scientific method is now obsolete, courtesy of coronavirus..
Lol
How many lives saved if we all went to Chinatown for CNY? How many lives would have been saved if we never let 2020 happen? How many lives would have been saved if Europe never appeased Hitler? Worthless study. How many people could be fed & housed with Columbia’s endowment?
Mask Not Social distancing

Professor X: 'Whats your superpower?' Me: 'Hindsight' Professor X: 'That's not going to help us' Me: 'Yes, I see that now'
