AMC Networks hires its first inclusion officer, Aisha Thomas-Petit

Aisha Thomas-Petit has been hired to serve as AMC's chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer. She will report directly to AMC Networks president and CEO Josh Sapan.

In her new role, Thomas-Petit will be charged with building, developing and retaining a diverse and inclusive community of talent within the company's workforce as well as behind and in front of the camera. She will help the portfolio, which includes AMC, IFC, Sundance, BBC America, WEtv and IFC Films, continue to tell original stories that reflect the spectrum of human experience.

“Diversity, equity and inclusion are more than business imperatives that spur creativity and drive innovation; they are at the heart of who we aspire to be and are interwoven into the very fabric of the company,” said Sapan. “Aisha’s successful track record and passion for integrating business strategy and diverse talent management to drive growth is a great fit for our company, particularly as we continue to shift our business to become more digitally focused.

Thomas-Petit arrives from ADP, where she spent seven years and most recently served as chief diversity, inclusion and corporate social responsibility officer for the company with a workforce of more than 58,000. During her stint at ADP, she played a key leadership role in developing and retaining top talent and ensuring an inclusive culture at the company. Before that, she held HR roles at Barclays Capital and JP Morgan Chase.

"AMC Networks and its portfolio of respected entertainment brands has a long history of bringing audiences new stories that surprise and delight,” said Thomas-Petit. “I am proud to join the company’s leadership team and look forward to building on AMC Networks’ commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace and to being a home for authentic stories that resonate; stories created in an inclusive environment that reflect the rich diversity of our audiences.

I remember a cabinet secretary once got in trouble by describing his colleagues as ,” a black, two jews, and a cripple.” His comments and hiring people solely on race/gender.....same thing

Honestly I’m still kinda confused about these type of positions etc, Chief Diversity Officer so their job is to tell these companies “Hey we should hire some people that are not white”
