The Amber Alert issued for a 13-week-old boy in Kaufman County was discontinued Friday after police say he was found safe in North Carolina.
The Kemp Police Department said the boy and his mother, 23-year-old Abigail Williams, were found at a bus terminal. Williams was taken into custody and faces a charge of interfering with child custody, according to police. She will be held in North Carolina until she can be extradited back to Texas, police said.
“The child, who is safe and sound, is currently being kept in North Carolina’s Children’s Protective Services until Texas CPS can make arrangements to bring the child back to Smith County,” the department said.Kemp police said Thursday that Williams left a location in the 300 block of Adams Street with her son Xyavier Calliste Wednesday night. Police said the child was in Child Protective Service custody and was ordered by a court to remain at the shelter with his mother.
According to authorities, the baby must take a prescription medication along with a formula, both of which were left behind.Williams is described as Black, 5-6 and about 150 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.UPDATE…….
