Amazon may have lied to Congress, a bipartisan group of lawmakers says

The lawmakers, members of the House Judiciary Committee's antitrust subcommittee, cited recent media reports that cast doubt on testimony provided by Amazon senior executives about how the company uses its vast influence to help its own brands. Elizabeth Warren says Amazon is 'like a monster' that must be fed every minute"At best, this reporting confirms that Amazon's representatives misled the committee," the lawmakers wrote in a letter to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy.

"Amazon and its executives did not mislead the committee, and we have denied and sought to correct the record on the inaccurate media articles in question," an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement. The lawmakers pointed to a Reuters investigation that used a trove of internal Amazon documents to show how the company ran a"systematic campaign of creating knockoffs and manipulating search results" to help its own product lines in India, one of its largest growth markets.
