Aloe Blacc: Police Have Hid Behind 'Qualified Immunity' for Too Long

“I’ve heard that ‘non-starter’ talk before,” Blacc tells Rolling Stone. “I learned it in history class. I learned it with regard to the Civil War — ending slavery is a nonstarter. I heard it with Jim Crow laws — that’s a nonstarter. I heard it with the Civil Rights movement — it’s a nonstarter. About affirmative action — a nonstarter. I think those days are over. I think we’re going to have to have these transformations now.

It’s the one thing that the federal government or Supreme Court can do. But the Supreme Court decided that they wouldn’t even touch it. The White House said it’s a nonstarter. Republican Senate said we’re not going to address it. And I think all of that rhetoric has to change.

“[We’ll] get enough awareness around the issue that [qualified immunity] becomes a debate topic for November”

Can our immune system 'remember' the coronavirus? Scientists hope so.Big questions remain about any potential coronavirus immunity — particularly whether those who have been infected and have antibodies are protected from reinfection and for how long. Donno ya'll going 'round spreading that fear the antibodies only live for 90 days in our system. If scientists are hoping so then what does that say about about vaccines I suspect that COVIDー19 will behave like Influenza and the common cold over time. Humans will acquire immunity over the years and it will not be as fatal to 80 year olds in 2050 as it is to them in 2020. Seasonal vaccines, etc. We'll see. Our immune systems have beaten worse
