As the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep through the nation’s elderly population, a worsening outbreak at a nursing home in Kansas has already claimed 10 lives, with every single resident—and some staff members—battling the virus.
Per the press release, “some staff members” have also tested positive for the virus and the remaining staff are being tested.Forbes clarifying the number of infected staff members, the health of the residents or the origins of the outbreak. The health department said it is working with the county Emergency Management office and the State of Kansas Division of Emergency Management to mitigate the outbreak.“Steps are being taken to prevent any further outbreak including quarantining residents in their rooms and not allowing outside visitors into the facility,” said the health department.
