An alarming new study shows that suicidality cuts across race, ethnicity, class, educational attainment and geography.

A new study suggests suicidal near misses may be on the rise among pregnant and postpartum women.

Zivin is a public health researcher who teaches psychiatry and obstetrics and gynecology with the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health, but despite her background studying mental health, she began to spiral. “One night in my eighth month of pregnancy, when I had convinced myself that my family would be better off without me, I swallowed handfuls of pills and crawled into bed, or so I thought,”. “It turns out I went downstairs into the kitchen and collapsed. When my husband found me unresponsive, he called for help.”

It’s called the break down of the family, no support for expectant mothers and hormones. Society is failing when our most precious resources are destroyed.

But we know what will happen - the psychiatric system (being overstretched and endemically patriarchal & misogynistic) will label the majority of women feeling suicidal as having a personality disorder... implicitly blaming them then dumping them. ClinpsychLucy dropthedisorder
