The victims were identified as Birmingham residents Franklin Harris, 49, and Yasmine Wright, 16, the television station reported.reported. Birmingham police Sgt. Rod Mauldin said officers found Harris unresponsive on the road close to a motorcycle. Another vehicle was found in a nearby grassy area, the website reported.
Harris was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue,Mauldin said the preliminary investigation indicates Harris turned onto a street and laid down his motorcycle. At that point, the suspect or suspects reportedly exited a vehicle and fired shots at Harris, according to the television station.
Moments later, police received word that a 16-year-old gunshot victim had shown up at Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Station 25,According to police, Wright had just gotten off work at the Birmingham Zoo, the website reported. Her mother had picked her up after work and they were returning home when the shots entered their vehicle from the same incident that killed Harris.
