Alabama's House Judiciary Committee passes bill named for Aniah Blanchard, murdered stepdaughter of UFC fighter, that would make it easier to hold suspects accused of violent crimes without bail.

, named Aniah's Law, would allow judges to hold those accused of committing violent Class A felonies. It was unanimously approved by the House on Wednesday and will now move to the Senate.

Currently, the Alabama constitution allows bail for all persons"unless the person is charged with a capital offense and the proof of guilt is evident or the presumption of guilt is great."

🤔 seems to be reactionary, and a damned slippery slope. Kind of up there with that Homeland Security Act where the powers that be can declare you a 'security risk' and hold you indefinitely even without charges, or a court appearance. Guess this could be the State version.

Otherwise known as common sense. Fucking people.

I believe the DeathPenalty should be carried out immediately following sentencing! TaxPayers shouldn’t be responsible for paying RoomBoard4Murderers

We know what this is. SneakyRacism using a tragedy of POC to lock up mostly POC without due process. Somebody has to see this for what it is. Black folk supported the 94 crime bill bc they wanted action. See what carnage we live with not thinking through all of the outcomes.

Accused? So someone can just Accuse someone...and thats it.. ok. BS.

Hope those people remember Kate Steinle...... ......the chick that was murdered by an illegal alien in San Francisco.... 💐

Thanks Obama

Damn shame!!!! We needed the HJC to pass a bill? What happened to common sense?

Tragic story but this isn’t a good thing necessarily

White House slams big cities on housing, sees GDP growth below 2.5 percentThe Trump administration warned that affordable housing constraints are a potential threat to U.S. economic growth, blasting New York and 10 other metropolitan areas for excessive regulations that are driving up costs and fueling homelessness Lol, like he would ever consider being part of an affordable housing project. This is of course, accurate. Housing prices, are subject to by-supply and demand. It's why Detroit has some of the cheapest housing in the nation; no one wants to live there, so there's an abundance of supply. NYC is the opposite. Restricting building, drives up costs. Period. What complete bullshit. It’s speculative corporate buy up of housing stock being held at high prices regardless of vacancy.
