Airbnb has introduced new policies, such as banning indoor security cameras on its platform. Decibel monitors, however, are still allowed.

Airbnb has officially dropped the “banhammer” on indoor security cameras for listed properties on its platform. Announced via an official update on its newsroom, the ban comes into force on April 30, 2024.

This could include outdoor swimming pools, saunas, etc. This latest change to conditions is part of Airbnb’s declared commitment to “prioritize the privacy” of its users. “Devices like doorbell cameras and noise decibel monitors continue to be permitted on Airbnb and can be an effective, privacy-protective way for Hosts to monitor security for their home and get ahead of issues like unauthorized parties. However, Hosts will be required to disclose the presence and general location of any outdoor cameras before guests book,” Airbnb explained.“To allow Hosts time to come into compliance with these updates, the revised policy takes effect on April 30.
