Mary Elizabeth Winstead joins the cast of Ahsoka, the Disney+ Star Wars spinoff series starring Rosario Dawson.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead has joined the cast of the Star Wars Disney+ spinoff series Ahsoka. The series will be joining the ranks of the many Star Wars series being developed for the streaming service after the success of the first two seasons of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, which is currently in the middle of season 1. Much like the upcoming series Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and Lando, Ahsoka will be digging deeper into the story of its title character, Ahsoka Tano.

Tano was first introduced into the Star Wars universe in 2008 in the animated feature film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the animated series of the same name that followed. Rosario Dawson's live-action take on the character was first brought to the screen in The Mandalorian chapter 13, titled"The Jedi." In that episode, she fought alongside the Mandalorian and told him Grogu's true name, because up until then he was only known as The Child or, popularly, Baby Yoda.

Winstead is no stranger to starring in science-fiction properties. After first rising to prominence playing Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, she battled aliens in both The Thing and 10 Cloverfield Lane. Her action chops are also well proven, most recently in the 2020 DC Extended Universe film, Birds of Prey , in which she played Huntress, a ruthless avenging angel who later becomes one of the titular Birds of Prey.

Winstead is a beloved presence in many pop culture properties, both mainstream and obscure. While it remains to be seen exactly what function she will serve in Ahsoka or if she will even be largely visible . However, she is sure to serve whatever part she is given with grace and aplomb. .
