I doubt the Navy is reacting to “public outcry;” it’s more like the story is being repositioned in the wake of bad PR. Let’s just see what “reassignment” means: retirement? desk job? And, all after the Captain (hopefully) recovers from the virus.

This is the same thing as being fired in the service. It is the moral obligation of an office to protect his crew whenever possible, and Crozier sacrificed his career for them. Probably this forced the Navy to deal with ALL the ships out there that were infected.

I thought the initial reports stated he was being reassigned. The outpouring of support was refreshing to see as we are so often lead to believe that the military ranks blindly support this crazy administration's demoralizing decisions regarding their high-ranking officials.
