Adams May Relent On Remote Learning With More Than 200K Students Absent During COVID Surge

“We don’t have full instruction and sometimes we don’t even have a teacher overlooking us in those classrooms,” said Stephanie, a Brooklyn Tech High School student who didn’t want to give her last name. “It seems like everyone around you is getting sick.”reported in the school system

That means about 8% of K-12 students got tested last week. Students in the 3K and Pre-K programs are not part of surveillance testing, and students who don’t opt in to the surveillance program are also not part of the testing pool.

I think now is not the time as the numbers are down trending and the children have lost way too much in education with many falling behind. The students who are absent because of COVID will be better to return - those absent because of fear , well......

It should not have taken this long to create a remote option for kids, if families asked for one months ago. City agencies and our leaders need to stop with the whiplash policies and mandates and instead LISTEN to what the populace has been saying all along.
