Officers responding to the neighborhood after reports of gunshots shortly before 3 a.m. that day encountered Adam Toledo and Ruben Roman, 21, police said. Eric Stillman has been identified in the original case incident report as the Chicago Police Department officer who fatally shot the teen. He's been put on administrative duty during the investigation. Perez described Adam Toledo as a"kind" and"funny" kid who loved to laugh. She recalled that he would play with her 7-year-old daughter Kaylah's dolls to make Kaylah laugh.
Marco Toledo Jr., Adam's eldest brother, remembered the seventh-grader as the"most loving and caring little kid" he knew. Marco Toledo just bought a house outside Chicago and was looking forward to having his little brothers over for sleepovers.

While having a gang name of lil homicide might seem funny, it’s no laughing matter. Also do not forget the weapon he had been holding had been recklessly fired, within the neighborhood, endangering the lives of others. There is nothing kind about potentially harming human life.

How about holding the mother responsible for having her son out in the streets at 2am with a gun. This all could’ve been avoided if he were home where he belongs at that hour. The officer was put in a difficult position that no one else will ever understand.
My dad always said nothing good happened after 10:00 pm for young ppl. While this was horrible , I wonder why a 13 yr old was out at 2:00 am. And with a gun?
Kids are shot daily in Chicago, there should be media attention and protests every single day.
As adults we did nothing to create a society where this child didn't need to be part of a gang. We as adults did nothing to help the underprivileged but I sure see those same adults laying the blame on everything they can, but themselves. He was but a child.

It is not just the Police but the PARENTS OF THIS KIDS are as much to blame for not doing a good job of parenting by allowing their 13 year old son wandering around out side at 2:30 am with Gang members. The Parents should be held responsible for this as much as the police.

What was a “kind funny kid” 13 years old doing out at 2:30 in the morning with a 21 year old man? He obviously did not deserve to be shot, but you have to wonder where his parents were and why he was running around at that hour with an adult make.
The tragedy is that his family didn’t do anything for him before he died (keep him off the streets, put him to bed, keep him away from adult gang bangers, teach gun safety, etc., etc.).

This event is the result of parental neglect. A 13-year-old should not be out on the streets with an adult who gives said 13-year old a gun. Nothing will change in this Country until people start owning their choices, leading to these sad but avoidable outcomes.

Lil homicide is gone and that is truly tragic. Nevertheless, his actions had a direct impact on the decision for the officer to fire. The police don’t get the benefit of hindsight 20/20. Mistakes can cost them their lives.

It is common for gang bangers to have a minor with them, so they can give the minor the weapon. Penalties are much less for a minor than an adult. The 21 year old Adam was with is responsible for his death. Adam should have been at home & in bed. This is not the same as D Wright.
