doesn't want to be anywhere near clips of himself acting, and he'll walk out of an interview to avoid it.
The actor recently ditched NPR's"Fresh Air" in the middle of their interview with him, when they played a clip of Driver's performance in Netflix'sIn a statement to USA TODAY,"Fresh Air" executive producer Danny Miller said the actor walked out during a break and never came back. Driver was at the NPR bureau in New York on Dec.10 for an interview with host Terry Gross, who is based in Philadelphia.
"We were looking forward to the interview," Miller said in the statement."Terry thinks he’s a terrific actor, he was a great guest when he was on 'FA' in 2015 – so we were disappointed that we didn’t have a new interview to share with our listeners about 'Marriage Story.'" According to Miller, the outlet"always" plays clips during interviews with actors and directors who are promoting their work, but they "knew from our previous interview with Adam Driver that he does not enjoy listening to clips of his movies."Because of this, Miller said the show's host "invited him to take off his headphones while we played back the 20-second clip.
Instead, as the clip rolled, Driver made for the exit. After the clip finished, the engineer alerted the Philadelphia office that the actor"had walked out of the studio, and then left the building."USA TODAY has reached out to Driver's reps for comment.
nprfreshair KNOWINGLY triggered his anxiety. Mental health is real & NPR FAILED big time on this. Good for AdamDriver for taking care of his mental health. SHAME ON NPR.
Terry Gross seems to have a way of running off interviwees.
He’s very very good it it !
Admittedly there IS something unnerving when some folks hear their own voice recorded. Never seen it this bad, tho
Never heard of him.
He looks like the car down the alley.
He doesn’t like to use the mirror, I guess.
Fleeing the interview!!
Stupid and unprofessional
Hey I did the exact same while watching Marriage Story too! 🙄🙄🙄
Lol
The press is not your friend
Yes, let’s frame the person with nausea-inducing anxiety as the villain or diva when he was on Fresh Air and talked to Gross in 2015 about this phobia, clearly outlined his boundaries before this interview, and left when they were violated. Bad take, USA Today.
The ole I can’t bare to see myself on screen actor’s trope. Buck up buttercup. Athletes face the film everyday and answer questions. You’re an actor not a shape shifter. It’s not magic, it’s technique. Learn how to be objective about it, might make you a better craftsman. 🤷🏻♂️
Walking out on NPR takes real balls
It was clear he doesn’t like watching himself, so why’d they disrespect him by doing so? And more importantly why is this news? I don’t see all the great things he does for numerous charities and veterans in the news....
diva behavior. He knows better. Remember where you came from.
I mean what do you expect from unstable military vets?
If they played him the clip thats been going around....id have left too.
He was excellent in Marriage Story!
Hahahahah
