That's higher than the national rate, with about 56 percent of Americans having received at least one dose of the vaccine. But it still means that about 100 of the total contingent of 613 U.S. athletes have not yet been vaccinated.
The news came as the opening ceremony for the pandemic-hit Games got underway in Tokyo's Olympic Stadium, marking the official launch of the global sporting event.
Why? They are risking their health and their teammates’ health. I think the IOC should have made it mandatory for all athletes, coaches, and other support staff from all participating nations to be fully vaccinated for all the thousand athletes, coaches, and support staff.
