A Harvard Law student has filed a lawsuit against the university because tuition prices and fees have remained the same despite classes moving to remote learning due to the coronavirus pandemic.

as the novel coronavirus swept across the nation. Classes were held over Zoom, many students moved back home and most tuition prices remained unchanged.faced legal complaints from students demanding that tuition or fees be refunded. Drexel University in Philadelphia, Columbia University in New York City, Michigan State, Vanderbilt, Brown, Berkley and the University of Colorado are some of the schools facing these legal challenges.

Barkhordar said he's bringing the lawsuit against Harvard in the hope it becomes a class action lawsuit, saying he's fully prepared and ready to represent his fellow classmates, which could be considered an injured class in court. Barkhordar alleges that Harvard has actually taken away some of the mitigation efforts it put in place last spring. In the fall, he says, there won't be unanimous pass/fail for all students, professors are not required to record their classes and the administration refused to redo registration -- Barkhordar said he would have chosen classes differently had he known they would all be online.

"The truth of the matter is we're all in unsettled times and this is new territory for everyone," said Burns."But I think that calls for discretion and consideration on the part of institutions like Harvard and other schools. They really need to think about how they're treating their students." While Barkhordar said he does receive some financial help from Harvard, he's still had to take out loans. He said he's paying more than $50,000 a year.

PHTKW Are the Professors getting paid less? Is the Property worth less? Is this a Pandemic? Are you going to lose your degree? Yeah, maybe they have a $100 BILLION Endowment that they just shit upon, but pay your damn tuition Harvard! That money was meant for some unknown reason 🤷🏻‍♂️

greta I think all universities should be looking at this

Go after Harvard all right this I would love to see

Can someone sue pace university? I would do it but I don’t have the funds and they straight up stealing our money so

Why? Didn't he heard that they have hired a very expensive professor from India? How will be expenses met?

Completely agree! Online classes are not worth the money that has to be paid for tuition!

greta Universities are big money! But they are an antiquated, time consuming, inefficient education system that needs a serious reboot. Good for this young law student, hope he wins.

Everybody with an ivy league diploma should be demanding their money back. They've all got a horrible indoctrination of liberal politics

That didn't take long. Bet he's a rethuglican

Go to your State’s public university. Problem solved.

Seriously why do they need digital text books they already had their textbooks for the year gone and for the year ahead they don’t need to buy the paper books but the digitalized version.

uopx online cost about the same as a community college type thing.

Still have Harvard on the diploma? That’s all he paid for... can get the same education at commuter school... PS - I used to teach at an Ivy League

Sounds like he should transfer to another school. Simple solution.

Online classes have been always way more expensive than regular classes. So expecting to lower tuition is BS.

Maybe Harvard can put in for more stimulus $$$ to pay for this....

you mean to tell me this has never happened before.... nothing will obviously happen because the governments corrupt but do what you gotta do

Same with the dojo my boys go to. They have been closed but collecting contract payments.

Online classes typically include digital text books and cost more than regular classes. I work for a University bookstore. Now they should be refunded for room and board. However technology fees for online classes tend to be costly.

Return money back to the young! You fking greedy people!

“I’m a victim!” -everyone in America

My daughter’s tuition had added “off campus learning fee” !!!

Litigation such as this is why lawyers have a poor reputation.

He sounds just perfect for the stupidly litigious USA! Good luck to him - he’s a product of his learning.

He's asking to lower or increase the tuition fees?

he thinks because he is a law student he can sue for no reason lmao good luck and i will not use your services your special

👏👏👏 He is paying for something that he is ultimately not getting. It looks like unjust enrichment.👍

After going through virtual classes, I feel I really did have to teach myself a whole lot more than in a typical semester. I think the main problem was it was harder for my professors to do real time learning with us with an online platform. SPM230

Good....I hope you win.

The whinging generation. It's the same teacher and the same curriculum. BuckUpButtercup

One would have thought Harvard would see the business model of how online learning will work in the future. But I guess exclusivity cannot be achieved without putting a 'premium' on your product.

EXACTLY HOW CAN YOU PRETEND THAT ONLINE CLASSES ARE EVEN COMPRABLE TO IN PERSON THAT IS A ROBBERY AND IF YOU HAVE A 30+ BILLION ENDOWMENT THEN IM SURE U CAN HELP YOUR STUDENTS WOTH UNECESSARY DEBT

So unfair !

Some schools tack on an online fee so online classes cost more.

Good deal. Practicing your soon to be profession as early as now.

Awesome. Catholic schools did the same and increased tuition.

Hmmmm🤔

No effort required or costs associated to being on-line by institutions.

Naturally!!!

Oh sweet irony.

This!!!! The universities need to charge Capella prices- no more than 20k

Plese show the country what's really going on right now!

They didn't guarantee student life...or a date....they say they will give you a degree if you follow THEIR program successfully. Pandemic is not Harvards fault...gotta give a certain amount of a pass on life...bad karma during a pandemic...DON'T DO IT!!

Provost’s gotta Provost dude. How will they afford their fifth yacht.

If its a private facility they can raise or lower their prices as they wish whenever they want it.

The degree he going to get is gonna be the same thing

this guy only got into harvard because he is foreign. he is free to leave and transfer to a lesser law school if it bothers him.

Wait wait wait... To the Ivy League student upset about tuition costs.. “If you can’t afford to go, don’t go!” 😂

This guy doesn't really care about winning the case, he just wants his name out there and show he's got balls.

Yes! Way to practice law!

They taught him everything he knows...

You know I was wondering about my son’s tuition as well to be honest. How can a college charge for certain fees when the students are not on campus using the facilities? Hell we are paying for an apartment that my son isn’t using because he is at home with remote classes.

Faculty still working, not fair to decrease salary. the cost of doing business may go down for not being physically present but cost of online platforms, and cost to keep staff employed. So much to consider. The caliber of education won’t be decreasing as much as can be helped

He will get the same degree whether it is remote learning or in classroom. I guess this student has a decision to make.

Is Harvard going to change its proud name like CancelYale?

Only in America....

He ain’t wrong.

The need to pay the Democrats somehow ?

They trained him a little too well it appears.
