was announced on Sept. 2 and reunites all four of its members for the all-new album: Benny Anderson, Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Björn Kristian Ulvaeus. In a press release, the band stated, “We took a break in the spring of 1982 and now we’ve decided it’s time to end it … To tell the truth, the main inspiration to record again comes from our involvement in creating the strangest and most spectacular concert you could ever dream of.
The show, titled ABBA Voyage, will open on May 27 at the ABBA Arena in London – a 3,000-seat arena built specifically for the show. ABBA will star in the concert as digital versions of themselves circa 1979, created by Industrial Light & Magic. The digital representations of ABBA were realized after, according to a press release, “weeks and months of motion-capture and performance techniques with the four band members.
“We’re going to be able to sit back in an audience and watch our digital selves perform our songs on a stage in a custom-built arena in London next spring,” ABBA stated. “Weird and wonderful!”
