A woman who's become an icon in the debate over whether it's OK to recline your airplane seat said she was"scared to death" by how a flight attendant handled her painful ordeal.
Wendi Williams, who said she's a teacher in Virginia Beach, tweeted footage of a man repeatedly hitting the back of her reclined seat with his fist during an American Airlines flight in January. But what viewers saw in the video wasn't even the worst of it, Williams told CNN's"New Day."A passenger filmed a man repeatedly pushing her reclined seat with his fist.

If the airlines don’t want their seats to recline, they should make seats that don’t recline. They’ve obviously packed more seats closer together than before so reclining is more intrusive, but that doesn’t mean you can act like an asshole and punch a person’s seat.

I was on her side until I learned the detail that the guy had asked her to put her seat up so he would have room to eat and then she waited until he was done and reclined again.

Why is this so important? If the one behind you can’t recline, then you ask him if it’s okay. If he says no, then don’t do it. Even so, no one should be hitting the one in front. Just ask not to recline, or a change in place.
Given fee heavy flying today, wonder if she asked him how much he would pay her to either not recline her seat, or for him to have it instead. At least it might've brought some civility. Art of the deal.
