DeMario Johnson and his mother, Addie Johnson, were also stranded near the Cheektowaga school. They were on their way to a relative’s house on Dec. 23 — escaping
The storm made it impossible for them to be rescued, emergency responders told them, so they and Addie’s 3-year-old Shih Tzu, DJ, spent the night inside their car. By the time Withey found them on Dec. 24, Addie Johnson, 71, didn’t think they’d make it out of the blizzard alive, her son told The Post.
“We just enjoyed that we had shelter, we had food and we had a new family,” Addie told The Post. “On Christmas morning, we all woke up and said Merry Christmas to everybody.”
God Bless Jay! I guess the Media won't be labeling him a 'white supremacist' He saved 24 souls
It’s a act of self sacrifice, whether you live or die. We frown on that now. We have a “every person for themselves“ mentality. WP, do you own a dictionary?
A very Christmas story, if you think about. As disappointing as the actions of the people who turned him away were, he saved many more. Well done sir.
The people who turned him away, let KARMA return the favor to them when they need help.
have to do what you have to do and he did it
Makes sense to me. As a taxpayer, all these people technically own the building, and they weren’t breaking into it as vandals, but to preserve their lives, which is much more important than the building.
Someone should name and shame the cowardly home-owners who turned him away.

Heard interview on KIRO Radio yesterday. I still can’t believe 10 homes said no to him, but he understood & for that, he was able to find more people, that needed help, otherwise, those people might not have survived. Good Job Jay. Glad your being recognized for your efforts to save lives once you found a way to save yourself. Not going to say a hero, but good human being. Thank you Jay true compassion
