Wong Wai-yin's wife feared the worst after reading his short farewell letter.

HONG KONG - Wong Wai-yin’s wife feared the worst after reading his short farewell letter.

He apologised for not repairing their ramshackle house before he departed. “I still haven’t had the time to fix the rooftop of our home, but I’m afraid I won’t have such a chance anymore,” he wrote. “But soon I became very nervous,” Wong’s wife said, after learning her husband had been detained in mainland China, fearing he would not receive fair treatment there. She said she often wakes up from nightmares. Both she and her mother asked not to be identified fully because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Carrie Lam, the city’s leader, told reporters at a news conference on Tuesday that the detainees must face justice in China and Hong Kong had no legal basis to demand any particular rights such as presumption of innocence, fair trial or legal representation. Ten of the 12 arrested after the failed attempt to flee by speedboat to Taiwan had faced charges including rioting, arson and police assault. One stood accused of colluding with foreign forces under the new law.

Before Wong’s arrest in January, their life was simple, she said. They dreamt of finally going on a honeymoon in Japan, reshooting their wedding photos and having a child after saving up enough. They planned to buy a flat and retire in mainland China.

In order to escape the jurisdiction of Hong Kang, run into jurisdiction of China. What a smart move. What was the initial reason for the protest? 为了逃避香港的司法,冲进了大陆的司法。好聪明的举动!一开始抗议的原因是啥来着?

Some Hong Kong rioters don’t appreciate the happiness they enjoyed. It’s clear that Those criminals flee to escape their due punishment.

Hong Kong government ends Disney's option for expanding theme parkWalt Disney Co will lose its option to buy a plot of land next to its Hong Kong theme park that was to allow for future expansion after the city's government said on Wednesday it would not extend the option due to current economic conditions. You mean the Chinese government. Hong Kong doesn't have an independent government anymore and it's a pathetic to pretend they do. Honestly, it’s sad...but, they should say they’re remodelling and demolish the place. Shut it down and never return. Any sort of connection to the CCP is cancerous. Like being connected to Hitler’s Reich or Stalin’s Soviet Socialism. A moral stain that Disney does not need. Too bad. It’s a tiny park compared to the others, but it is very nice.
