Florida teen Ashley Adirika has always dreamed of attending an Ivy League school. So in late fall, she applied to not just one -- but all eight of them.
On Ivy Day, the fateful spring day when the prestigious schools all announce their first-year admission decisions, Ashley opened eight tabs on her computer -- one for each's applicants portal. One acceptance letter popped up. Then another. And another. Until she had them all: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton and Yale.It was a surreal moment for the 17-year-old, whose mother emigrated to the US from Nigeria three decades ago.

This is a great feast for the young lady. I wish her a great career ahead. We've millions of young folks in Ashley's home country, Nigeria who are out of school. More ten million of them. And no concrete policy to reverse the situation

I had a Nigerian pal in college 30 years ago. She drove a Porsche and clothing-shopped at Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent boutiques. Her monthly allowance would be $8200 in today's dollars. Her elder sister got the same.
This is not the solution. This girl and all young Africans can learn and thrive and prosper in Africa. In a free and not corrupt Africa. This kind of stories that are recurrent these times in western countries will just encourage massive immigration.
