The Staub 4-Quart Round Cocotte Is the Black Friday Deal You Can’t Escape

And it’s a good reminder: On Black Friday, sometimes the same exact deal can be found at many, many stores...

Brands and retailers love to tout their Black Friday sales in advance (and we’ve duly shared a bunch of them here). But really, is the Friday after Thanksgiving truly the best day to get a good deal? Are the prices always lower on that magically dark day? And is one retailer superior for finding the best discount?

Maybe not, as the Staub 4-Quart Round Cocotte may prove. Staub, the luxury French cookware company now owned by Zwilling, announced its own Black Friday 2019 deal via press release: the iconic round 4-quart Dutch oven for $99.99. That’s pretty enticing, considering Staub Dutch ovens are considered to be a formidable competitor to Le Creuset and its legendary Dutch ovens (and typically around the same price).

But you don’t need to wait for Black Friday, or even Thanksgiving, or even the week of Thanksgiving, to get that price. And you don’t need to go to a specific store.

Food52 announced it would be offering the 4-quart Staub cocotte in special colors for $99 in a “special weekend offer” for Black Friday — but if you look, you can get it for $99 right now. The cocotte is already $99.95 on Williams-Sonoma’s website as an “Early Black Friday Deal!”; Sur la Table is offering it for $99.96 as part of a “Black Friday Early Deal”; and Bed, Bath and Beyond is touted it among its early Black Friday sales for $99.99. And on Amazon, where actual “deals” are moving targets and value is but a social construct, it’s simply marked as $99.95.

Will it pay to wait until Black Friday in order to combine the discount with other ones, such as free shipping or a percentage off your whole shopping cart? Maybe, depending on where you order it from. But basically, if you’re in the market for a small-ish Dutch oven, you’re in luck — from basically any single retailer. This Black Friday, know that if a specific item is on sale at one store, it’s probably on sale at every store.
