Rejoice! The Situation Has Been Released From Prison

Breathe easy, friends. Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino has finally been released from prison, after serving eight months for tax evasion. Retire those #FreeSitch hashtags, and get ready for a new season of Jersey Shore.

Sorrentino did his time in a cushy white collar crime prison upstate, where fellow inmates included Fyre Festival scammer and cultural icon Billy McFarland, as well as Ryan Collins — the gross dude who hacked several celebrity email accounts and leaked their nude photos. He fit in really well there, even becoming Scrabble buddies with Collins.

But that's not to say the Sitch isn't happy to be reunited with his Jersey Shore castmates (all of whom campaigned for his release), and wife Lauren Pesce, who he married shortly before heading behind bars.

"We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life," Sorrentino and Pesce said in a statement to Page Six. "Thank you to our family, friends and fans for the continuous love and support during this time, it brought us so much peace and comfort. We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby Situations!"

Baby Situations! Wonderful. We wish Sorrentino all the best, and hope he's able to transition back into his regular GTL schedule with ease.
