Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl may have been at the mic during the band’s set at the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary, on Tuesday night (Aug. 13), but in his mind the real star of the show was a fan in a wheelchair. Grohl spotted the man behind held aloft in his chair during a break in the show and invited him up to get a bird’s eye view of the rest of the set from the stage.
“Ladies and gentlemen I would like to say, even to the guy in the fucking wheelchair,” Grohl said a fan-posted video of the moment. “He’s the fucking star of the show right there – that’s the fucking star of the show. My man! My man! I have a question; do you wanna come up and watch the show from up here? You wanna come up? Bring that motherfucker up here right now. Come on, come see the show,” he said to loud shouts of approval from the crowd.
That wasn’t the only VIP who got a special invite. “And then you know what? How about this: the girl with the bubbles, you still got bubbles? Where’s my bubble girl? I need the bubble girl and I need this man here right now – come up on stage,” he said to another superfan. As the man in the wheelchair was hoisted on the audience’s hands until he made it all the way to the stage, Grohl came over and gave him, and bubble girl, good, long hugs. “Bubble girl, I think you should sit next to [drummer] Taylor Hawkins and you should blow bubbles while we play this song,” he instructed her.

The band then ripped into show-closer “Everlong,” as Grohl ended the tune with yet another loving embrace for his special guest, who picked up the singer’s guitar and slammed it triumphantly to the stage. The band’s summer tour conitnues on Saturday (Aug. 17) with a show at the Summer Sessions in Glasgow, before they headline the Reading and Leeds Festivals on Aug. 23 and Aug. 25, respectively.
