Ashley Graham is expecting her first child with her husband of nine years, Justin Ervin. The model shared the exciting news on her Instagram to mark their wedding anniversary.
"Nine years ago today, I married the love of my life," she wrote. "It has been the best journey with my favorite person in the world! Today, we are feeling so blessed, grateful and excited to celebrate with our GROWING FAMILY! Happy anniversary, @mrjustinervin ❤️ Life is about to get even better. 😘"
Graham spoke to ELLE in its February issue this year about her and Ervin's relationship. She talked about how self-improvement is a theme for them and how she saw marriage as their next step.
“I wasn’t looking at it as settling; I was looking at it as building,” Graham said. “Going into a relationship with Justin, it was like, ‘Okay, what are we gonna build together?’" She credited Ervin with encouraging her to do more than just model. "The first year of marriage went by," she started. "He would get home from work, and I would still be in the same position on the couch watching Real Housewives. He’s like, ‘Is this what you want with your life?’ And I’m like, ‘What do you mean? I’m a model, I’m working.’ He’s like, ‘But don’t you want more? Because it’s not gonna last forever.’" It was then that she asked herself “what else do I want?”
She also said in her ELLE interview that starting a family wasn't her highest priority then but that she eventually wanted them. “For me, being a wife and being a woman, happiness doesn’t equate to having kids,” she said. “Kids will come when they come. Happiness, right now, is building with my husband and building my business.”
