A newly listed lakefront compound in Austin could become the most expensive house ever sold in Texas, if a buyer meets the $50 million asking price.
“Comprised of 80,000 pounds of steel, two pools, the finest of curated materials and privacy, this property is truly one of one,” Ramey said. Owner Brett Ames, a real-estate developer, in 2014 acquired the land on which to build a home for his family. The price he paid for the land is not public record in Texas, but Ames said construction of the compound cost around $1,250 per square foot.
