Chicago fire officials said four people were injured when a CTA bus crashed into a building at 111th and Michigan Avenue after being struck by a car.

The incident happened shortly after 6 p.m. at a currency exchange at 111th and Michigan Avenue in West Roseland.

Chicago police said a CTA bus was going north on Michigan when a Nissan Maxima ran a red light and struck it. As a result, the bus driver lost control of the bus and slammed into the currency exchange."We seen the bus in there. We seen the police dragging the guy away from the car because the car was smoking. And then like two minutes later, the car just burst into flames," said witness Tommy Burns.

Police said a 48-year-old bus passenger was taken to Roseland Hospital in good condition, a 54-year-old man on the bus went to Trinity Hospital in good condition, and a 28-year-old woman, who may be the bus driver, went to Little Company of Mary Hospital with minor injuries. CPD said the 20-year-old man driving the Nissan Maxima was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition.

"I just seen an ambulance going over with the stretchers to go get people out the bus, but I did see the bus driver. She was over by the side. She was bent over like she was hurt," Burns said."I've been here five years, man. I've seen 15, 20 accidents at this corner. This is a very bad corner, bad, bad corner, frankly," he said.Copyright © 2023 WLS-TV. All Rights Reserved.

Damn a car knocked a CTA bus off the road? Usually it’s the car going into a building who is driving these buses these days! This Is crazy 😜! How your bus leave the road way operator? You are in a bus! Damn, I'd hate to see the currency exchange fee for that.. So 2 on the bus and 2 that saw it and would like a payday
