Former Minneapolis police officers Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane were found guilty of violating George Floyd's civil rights by a federal jury in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Harris County DA Kim Ogg told the Wall Street Journal Gerald Goines likely lied when he arrested Floyd on a minor drug offense.

"We are grateful that today a jury found the other officers involved in George Floyd's killing guilty for their roles in his death," Harris said."Nothing can erase the family's pain of losing George, but they are hopeful that receiving another measure of justice will serve as a reminder that change is coming in this country."

"These officers had a moral responsibility, a legal obligation and a duty to intervene, and by failing to do so, they committed a crime," Kovats said. The defense said their training was inadequate. Kueng and Lane both said they deferred to Chauvin as the senior officer at the scene. Thao testified that he relied on the other officers to care for Floyd's medical needs as his attention was elsewhere.
