Beau Allen entered the National Football League as a seventh-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014.
He left it this week as a veteran who played for three different teams in his career and got a Super Bowl ring.
Not a bad run at all.
Allen’s ring, of course, came as a member of the Eagles in 2017. The defensive tackle left Philadelphia in 2018 and spent that season and 2019 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He then signed with New England, but missed all of 2020 and was released in March.

Allen posted a long statement announcing his retirement on social media.
“Playing football in the NFL has been the biggest privilege of my life,” he wrote. “Never in my wildest dreams as a youth did I think that I would play in the NFL. So it’s pretty wild to reflect on a career that has spanned 7 years, 3 teams, and produced a Super Bowl Championship (in my home state of Minnesota).
“What a ride.”
Allen also wrote about the “amazing teammates,” he had during his three stops, as well as coaches and support staff. And he talked about how football shaped him into “the man I am today.”
“I’m looking forward to applying the skills learned in football (high effort, gap penetration, two gapping, taking on double teams, etc) to the world at large and finding something new to pour my passion into. I’m excited to see what the future hold!”
Allen played in 90 regular-season games — again not bad for a seventh-rounder — and made 16 starts. He finished his career with 117 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.
