Anne Hathaway Upstages the Cannes Red Carpet With Her White Sequin Train

Anne Hathaway made an entrance at the Cannes Film Festival on May 19 while promoting her new film, "Armageddon Time." Hathaway, accompanied by her husband, Adam Shulman, arrived dressed in a custom Armani Privé dress embellished with white sequins. The "WeCrashed" star paired the two-piece dress with a silky shawl that doubled as a train as it trailed behind her. Hathaway styled the strapless look with silver slingback heels and Bulgari jewelry, including a Mediterranean Reverie necklace inlaid with a 100,000-carat sapphire à la Kate Winslet's prized jewel in "Titanic," aka The Heart of the Ocean.

"A red carpet exclusive," the brand wrote on Instagram. "All eyes turn towards the Mediterranean Reverie necklace, a stunning piece from the new Bulgari Eden The Garden of Wonders High Jewelry collection. Showcasing the enchanting splendor of a unique stone — 107,15 dazzling carats of royal blue cushion-cut sapphire from Sri Lanka — this extravagant creation will premiere in Cannes this evening."

Simplistic yet elegant, the look is just one of many examples of Hathaway's fashion versatility. Preceding the festival, she teased a new style direction in a three-piece Christopher John Rogers suit covered in rainbow polka-dots while promoting "WeCrashed." At the global premiere of the Apple TV+ series in March, Hathaway made another style statement in a structural David Koma dress that featured a thigh-high slit and an asymmetrical cutout across the bodice.

Ensuring the necklace was on full display as she waved to the cameras, Hathaway — who's played all manners of royalty, from the White Queen in "Alice in Wonderland" to Princess Mia Thermopolis in "The Princess Diaries" — evoked an undeniable air of opulence on Thursday.
