Reigning Class 1A state champion Bayshore Christian had no problems as it opened the 2022 state playoffs on Thursday at Coastal Church in Daphne.
John Malone went 4-for-5 with 6 RBIs as the top-ranked Eagles swept Wadley 10-0 and 17-0 in its best-of-3 series. Bayshore (21-5) will face either Brantley or Billingsley in the second round.

In the opener, Streed Crooms allowed just one hit in five innings. He struck out nine and walked just one. He also went 2-for-2 at the plate with 2 runs scored. Malone, the reigning 1A Player of the Year, went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Riley Malone also drove in 2 runs.
Bayshore scored 2 runs in the first, 4 in the second and 4 in the fourth.
The Eagles pounded out 13 hits in just 3 innings in Game 2. They scored 6 runs in the first, 3 runs in the second and 8 in the third. Malone with 2-for-3 with 2 triples, 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Cooper Schultze was 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Cole Dean also drove in 2 runs.
Mikael Bryant pitched all 3 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk He struck out 6.
Wadley had just 4 hits combined in the two games.
CLASS 1A
Sweet Water 15-15, Keith 0-0
No. 10 Sweet Water (12-17) needed only four total innings in two games, scoring 14 second inning runs in Game 1 and 15 runs in the first inning of Game 2 to advance.
Lashon Young and Michael Alan Cole each had 3 RBIs in Game 1, both with a double and 2 hits, while Young scored 3 runs. Walker Thompson had 3 hits, including a double, and William Ethridge also had 3 hits with 2 RBIs.
Thompson pitched the win, striking out 7 while allowing a hit.
Jaland Lewis-Horton drove in 4 runs in Game 2 while Ethridge added 3 RBIs and Cole had 2 RBIs with a double. Young had two hits with a triple.
Ethridge also got the one-inning win, striking out all 3 batters with 10 pitches.
